* Our speaker was Stephanie Turnham, Director of the Bell County Museum. She discussed the Chisholm Trail - Facts, Myths, Legends, and Characters that are part of this Texas Landmark.
* The Historical Society also Awarded its annual "Persons of the Year" to Robert Denman and Rev. Dale Gore.

July 4th - 2011 - “Old Fashioned 4th of July Picnic”
The Salado Historical Society is hosting its annual “Old Fashioned 4th of July Picnic” again this year. It is on July 4th at the Salado Middle School Cafeteria instead of Salado Pace Park (concerns about weather). Starts at 6:00 PM. All guests are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Our Society supplies meat and drinks for everyone. Everyone is invited, member and non-members!! It will be a wonderful event with the Salado Community Chorus providing entertainment.

The Salado Historical Society annual open meeting and chili supper is scheduled at 6:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7 at the Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.
Three speakers will present the history of each of the three oldest churches here in Salado (Baptist, Methodist and Church of Christ). This short program will cover historic data and interesting facts of the days gone by in these churches.
New officers and board members that will take office in January will be elected.
The public is invited to the supper meeting. The Society Board will provide chili, iced tea and coffee. Everyone needs to bring SALADS, CORNBREAD OR DESSERTS.
December 2, 3, & 4 - 2011 - SALADO HISTORICAL SOCIETY CHRISTMAS TOUR OF HOMES
The Salado Historical Society will present their annual Tour of Homes and Historical Buildings on December 2, 3, & 4. Hours will be from 5-8 on Friday, 10-5 on Saturday, and 1-5 Sunday. Tickets for the tour are available at the Salado Tourist Bureau. Tickets purchased before Thanksgiving are $12.00. After Thanksgiving tickets are $15.00 and children 11 and under are free.
Board meetings are the first Monday of each month in the Salado
Civic Center Historical Room @ 6:00 PM.
